The International Print Media Fair DRUPA 2016 in Dusseldorf/Germany , was concluded a few days ago. At an expo which was impossible to miss, we were there and through the eye of the visitor, we present you some of the innovations that grasped our attention.
One of the biggest innovations, was the paper cutting by laser. The ability and the precision of the cut, was indeed impressive!
An innovation that caught our attention, was the “InfiniTrim” machine from a well known company in the printing field, which by focusing on the needs of the digital age, by producing online, books in different sizes, by changing the setup automatically, delivering in great speed!
At the expo was obvious, that the “Impress Control” technology, along with the impressive screen walls, are now available for mostly all the offset printing machines, by presenting to the user all the available information, during the printing process in a screen and even offering him live feed from the inside of the machine, through cameras! Nevertheless these technological innovations from the printing companies were limited.
Well known company presented fluorescent inks, for even more creative presentations!
A trip to the routs of printing history was introduced by the Typography Museum, which presented us the traditional way that paper used to be made!

In conclusion, in this year’s DRUPA expo it was made obvious that digital printing leads the way to the future and obligates the greatest “players” in the printing market to continuously claiming the biggest piece in the “cake”. Traditional forms of typography (like newspaper printing or cutting machines) are gradually transitioning in a more digital and personalised era. Nevertheless like in any digital innovation in our era, we may find more speed, quality and evolution in the printing processes and machines, but also the rise of questions whether for someone who wants to invest in “tomorrow”, in something which constantly and rapidly changes today.
